  • Today’s news comes from Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer, who confirmed the purchase of Tumblr and also a big update for Flickr, that now offers 1 TB of free storage for pics. If you’re tired of the same good old UI in Flickr, know it has been revamped, both on mobile and on the desktop.

The new layout is tiled and involves a big collection of images. As you log into your account you’ll see an impressive amount of tiles with your recent uploads. The stars and comments for pics are visible on the lower right area and the Groups and Explore categories are placed on the side, while a link to the Flickr Blog is placed underneath.

The Android app focuses on images as well, offering rows of recommended pics to user and the images are revealed via vertical scrolling. You can explore said rows with side swipes. The navigation controls are placed in a left area sidebar, that may remind you of Facebook. Here you’ll find contacts, groups, comment activity, search and settings options and more. Finally, at the top right there’s a button for the camera app.

The app is up for download here.
