  • If the recent launches of Amazon tablets and Nokia phones didn’t impress you, then you might as well spend your hard earned cash on a gaming tablet. I’m talking about the famous Wikipad, now up for preorder at Gamestop and launching on October 31st, with a price tag of $500. The product was announced earlier this year and it offers a 10.1 inch display and a quad core Tegra 3 processor.

Its screen is a 720p IPS one and you also get 1 GB of RAM, a microSD card slot and the real seller here is the control system: a gamepad style dock. Gamestop has agreed to back the tablet, by negotiating deals with big game publishers, in an attempt to bring exclusive content to the new platform. Sony seems excited about this product, already giving it PlayStation certification and also in the mix there’s the Gaikai streaming service, that will also be available on the Wikipad.

Originally the Wikipad was supposed to be a 3D stereoscopic tablet, but that idea was put on hold, maybe for a future iteration of the console. From what I know the tablet will come with stereo speakers on the back, with an unique design, for an improved acoustic experience and a “lip” in the form factor of the case. Will you get this product for Halloween?
