  • Never challenge the usefulness of small apps in the form of tools that are designed for one purpose only. On the Play Store you will find many such examples that have proven their usefulness and have become one of the best rated apps available. There are apps to use the speech synthesis engine integrated in the OS to for example have a book read for you to hear it and others.

    SpeakMe

SpeakMe is one very small app (takes just 495kb in size) that you can use to have your notifications read to you. The app uses the speech engine integrated in the OS to talk your notifications in a vary convenient manner. You can select for witch apps you want the app to read the notifications. You can also set the minimum number of seconds that must pass between notifications provided by the same app so you won’t find it annoying. You can also set it to silence when you shake the phone, show the help screen on start or speak only the name for the notification.

The app is ideal for when the phone is in your pocket and connected to the headset. It can read your email, SMS messages, Whatsapp messages and in general any service that provides notifications.  SpeakMe has the potential of becoming one of your favorite apps.

SpeakMe is available for free on the Play Store.
