  • In case you followed our articles, let me remind you about the one where we covered 5 of the best Twitter alternatives on the Play Store. On that occasion we  placed TweetCaster by OneLouder Apps on the first place, as it’s the most complex and works best out of the ones currently available. Today, we have a new app, by the same developer, offering some very interesting functions.

    Slices

OneLouder’s apps have always focused on covering all the social needs. They developed TweetCaster, a great (if not greatest) Twitter client, FriendCaster for Facebook, Baconreader for Reddit and lots more. Their latest app is called Slices and is a Twitter client offering some inovating functions. They describe their new app as “a better way to discover Twitter” by adding some neat customization features. Some of the apps abilities have been borrowed from it’s older brother. You have the ability to “zip” specific users, hashtags and keywords to remove them from your stream, very good search tools and bookmarking for faster access to individual users’ tweets. On top of that you can organize you Timeline into customizable “slices” – categories of  information depending on your interests.

With Slices you can add as many Twitter account as you desire. The app UI looks great and functions very well. You get the usual “pull-to-refresh” and the tab for managing your accounts and settings appears from the left, while tabs with mentions and messages appear from the upper bar and you can scroll through them. The “Explore” button lets you browse through different categories and find who to follow. There are live events in this section too. All your actions are synced with the Web app and from Slices you can also post on Facebook.
