  • The exiting function brought with Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone left a lot of us wishing it was made available for our devices. A number of developers struggled to bring the pop-up play feature in different forms and with many new options. One detaches itself from the rest through simplicity and functionality.

Popcorn Player is an application for Android that functions as a media player that distinguishes itself by integrating a floating window where you play streaming videos and high quality content. Like with the Galaxy S III original implementation, you can use pinch gestures to resize horizontally and vertically or both. You can also open multiple windows by accessing the app shortcut in the notifications bar.

This media player for Android enables video playback in MP4 and WebM formats. Popcorn Player even allows minimizing of the playback window to navigate the home screen and access any other application you want to run. The app is actually very easy to use, because you only need to click on the application icon to open the player and then select the video from local storage or from internet. You will then have your video playing and you can drag it around the screen and place it where you want so it doesn’t obstruct other apps. It not only works but also looks great.

Popcorn Player is available for free on the Play Store.
