  • A good Google Reader client is a must for me, that is why, after trying some of the options available on the Play Store, I am able to recommend one that has many features and a very well designed UI.

GoodNews is a top Google Reader and RSS feeds client that offers much more then the official app and features the Android 4.0 design elements for the UI.  The app has a built-in audio podcast player that syncs with Google Reader and has play lists and downloads for offline playback. Given the large number of options and features, GoodNews integrates tutorials and usage tips that will follow you at every step and you can disable them anytime. The menu structure is very easy to understand, there is a built-in browser for reading articles and also the usual mark as read/unread, share and other goodies.

The app functions very fast and fluid and it’s a pleasure to use. A comprehensive setting menu will let you customize almost every aspect of the behavior and look. Offline reading, including images, is also available for articles along with cloud backup for saving and restoring your settings. Here is a list of the basic features the app offers:

    • Fully Android 4 (ICS) compatible
    • Dark theme (pro license)
    • Synchronization with Google Reader
    • Innovative immediate push synchronization
    • Locale and Tasker integration
    • 50+ settings for perfect customization
    • Introduction tips for quick start
    • Supports Android 1.6 and higher
    • Supports all screen sizes

GoodNews is offered in a Free, add supported version, on the Play Store. Within the Free version you can activate a 5 days trial that will let you test all features. The Pro Licence can be also acquired from the Play Store.
