  • Created by ABitNo, the VPlayer Video Player app just got updated to versions 3.0.1. It requires Android 2.3 and up and it’s free, but I must mention this is a free trial for 7 days with full features. You need to buy VPlayer Unlocked to continue to use Vplayer afterwards, apparently.

Anyway this app takes up 5 MB of space and it even supports DLNA, Dropbox, Facebook, Gmail videos and DVR, plus more and accessing videos from them. The new version brings uPnP and DLNA as a Vplayer plugin. There’s also a new design and many improvements and bug fixes. APK size has been decreased and unused functions and permissions have been removed. Vplayer is a hardware accelerated media player for Android and it uses hardware video decoder at various containers and audio codecs combination.

Ice Cream Sandwich devices can play 1080p files with full hardware acceleration, while Honeycomb tablets play 720p videos with acceleration. There are a lot of supported formats and VPlayer also has the advantage of less battery drain then other players like MX Video Player or MoboPlayer. You can get the latest VPlayer from here.
