Vellamo Benchmark Reaches Version 2.0, Gets Pretty Interface
I usually get my share of Vellamo benchmark usage while reviewing Android devices and I can’t say I’m very happy with its interface. Luckily, the benchmarking app has just been updated, reaching version 2.0, that brings a beautiful UI among others. There’s also a brand new processor benchmark included.
Qualcomm’s Vellamo 2.0 includes a CPU benchmark now called Metal. It’s able to compile the results of benchmarks like Dhrystone 2.1 and Linpack into a single score, that gives you a real idea of your processor’s performance. In the end the results are compared against those of other devices selected as stock models by Qualcomm and tested by them. Vellamo is also more tweakable now, by excluding certain benchmarks and creating a score based on the average of 3 or 5 runs, since we all know results may vary.
There’s also the option to have Vellamo mail you the results and the ability to download the older Vellamo if you don’t like this one. Qualcomm also updated the HTML5 chapter with HTML5 video, DOM performance and Web page load/reload. The benchmark now supports both ARM and x86 processor and can be downloaded from here.
