  • This week was clearly dominated by Black Friday and its price reductions, plus very good offers, both in the Play Store and Amazon App Store. We gathered five of the most interesting apps and games of the week and showed them to you, in the following top 5, listed below. We’ve got a dubstep maker, a Gameloft MMO and many more goodies.

    5) Nun Attack

You know about Nun Attack, for sure, the game that makes holiness wicked. Well, this week (and still at the hour of writing the article), it was made available for free in the Google Play Store. The title has you controlling 4 nuns with machine guns, shotguns, pistols and special holy powers. They will take on demons, skeletons with guns and a fallen nun, as the big evil boss. They cross portals, destroy portals and have cool abilities, like special force fields or creating a virtual twin of the first nun in the game. You can get the title from here, while it’s still free. Special powers included in the game have poison, shock, freeze and burn among them. Its a pretty complex game!

    4) Dubstep Producer

Lately there has been a bit of shortage of music making apps, I’ll tell you that much… I haven’t seen a decent app that makes music for iOS and Android in a while now, or the media hasn’t been interested enough to cover. I would have thought that bigshots like will.i.am or Skrillex would have launched apps by now. So, what we’ve got here is Dubstep Producer, a piece of software that goes for 99 cents and it allows you to make dubstep tunes. You combine drum samples, with bass and synths, using dotted alternating patterns.

The music may sound minimalistic, but it’s actually a pretty good hint at what dubstep is all about. You can get the app from here.

    3) Dragon Slayer

Dragon Slayer is a brand new game, that fits in the same area as the Blood & Glory title and Infinity Blade, if you want a bit of a forced comparison. It pits you up against various species of dragons and you can parry, dodge or use a shield, taking turns to fight them. You use potions, magic, a sword, a shield, an axe and many varied weapons. The dragons are very varied and range from spider-like creatures, to huge critters looking like a big Komodo dragon or simply oversized lizards of snakes. The graphics are colourful and the battles are very hard, plus the title is filled with stuff to purchase, as usual for a Glu Mobile title.

You can get the game from here and know that it takes up 400 MB of storage.

    2) Chaos Rings Omega

Square Enix is famous for the Final Fantasy series and now it’s trying to leave a mark in the world of mobile RPGs. They already launched a couple of FF titles for mobile and now there’s a new series that may keep JRPG fans interested. It’s the Chaos Rings series, that now includes a title called Chaos Rings Omega. It offers 3D graphics and a turn based combat system, but it’s pretty steeply priced, at $13. Omega is actually a prequel to the previous Chaos Rings title, taking place 10,000 years before it.

The storyline has the character Vieg at its core and a tournament where couples fight. You get to fight as well, solve puzzles and randomly encounter enemies. The game is up for download here.

    1) Black Friday Apps

And since Black Friday was the hot topic of the week, the first place in our top 5 is reserved to… another top 5, one for the apps that you should have purchased on this period of price reductions. Among them we find SwiftKey 3 Keyboard, that’s more than 50% cheaper. It learns your typing style and goes for just $1.99. Then there’s Jump Desktop, a solution available on many more platforms, allowing you to control your PC or Mac via mobile. PowerAMp is also in the mix, as the perfect music player with gapless playback and beautiful interface. This is one of the most popular apps in the Play Store in all the store’s history. And now it’s 50% cheaper thanks to Black Friday.

Completing the list is IM+ Pro, an instant messaging app hit, that supports everything, from Facebook to Skype, Google Talk and more. ROM Toolbox Pro is also a must have app, combining all the root apps into one.

And there you have it: a week filled with cheaper apps and games, new title launches and promising releases to come soon. Since Christmas is coming, I expect even more price reductions and winter-themed titles to appear. And now, onwards to Cyber Monday!
