Top 5 Android Games/Apps for 16 – 23 December 2012: Dead Trigger Xmas Update, Eufloria Relaxation App and More
Christmas 2012 is almost here and before you start eating season treats and opening gifts, you may want to learn what’s new or updated on the Google Play Store. Aside from a big wave of price reductions, affecting especially Gameloft titles, we also received Xmas themed updates for games and new releases of some funky apps, listed below. So, here it goes, one of the last top 5 apps and games of the year!
If you’re the kind of person who runs late at meetings and dates, you probably need an app like Twist, to let people know you’re going to be late. The app is available for free in the Play Store and it alerts the people you’re meeting that you’re on your way… with a delay. The app needs Android 4.0 or later to run and requires the continuous use of GPS, so be careful with your battery life. Twist relies on a specific GPS and cell tower data algorithm in order to consume as little battery as possible. The app includes a map and you also get a list of contacts and messages, plus a list of favourite places. Very useful app, that you can download from here.
This app made it to the top because we find the entire concept to be way too original for it not to get total recognition all over the world. We’re dealing with a Japanese series of toilets, that you can control via a special Android app called My Satis. In Japan toilets have Bluetooth, speakers, WiFi and more. You can control features like flushing or lifting the lid from the app and the smartphone as well. The app My Satis allows the user to play music through the toilet’s speakers and there’s a toilet diary included in the app if you want to keep track of your bowel movements. Some internal memory would be welcome here (on the toilet), to store your Angry Birds and Dead Trigger saves, just saying…
Dead Trigger, the famous MadFinger games FPS just got an update that brings some Xmas goodies. The game is still available for free and gives you a brand new boss called Zanta, a zombie Santa, as well as a bunch of content related to Christmas. Dead Trigger also gets bug fixes, tweaks in order to run better on lower end devices and a brand new arena to survive on, located at the North Pole, of all places. The Christmas release also brings a brand new grenade launcher, new story missions, special prices and special offers for various guns. Madfinger Games also threw in a contest, that involves some puzzle solving and has a T Shirt as prize.
Finally, the Mini Mortar weapon is improved. You can get the game from here.
The good old classic Metal Slug is back, this time on Android, a while after Metal Slug 3 was released. SNK Playmore is behind this title, that’s a port from the original Neo Geo game, with touch controls emulated on the device. You can customize the controls however you want and you should know that you can choose specific missions to play, rescue prisoners and get powerups. There’s also a co op mode for playing the title with someone, just like in Metal Slug 3. Co op involves Bluetooth and allows you to play with a friend as you try to finish all levels.
The game costs $1.99 and it’s a 2D action shooter, like they used to make back in the day. Enjoy the Arcade Mode, Mission Mode and more by downloading the game from here.
Eufloria HD has got to be the most original and relaxing game I’ve seen all year. It costs $5 and it was even nominated for wards by BAFTA and IGN. Eufloria takes up 140 MB of space and for that price it gives you the time of your life. It’s an addictive strategy game, that requires you to colonize planets using plant seeds. All of that happens with a soothing music in the background, composed specifically for this title. Gamers can explore open space, grow their plants and witness as life evolves on planets. You can also colonized asteroids, use resources to create new life and brings seeds to other planets. There are 25 levels in Story mode to play with and tons of hours of gameplay.
There’s also a Relaxed Mode that involves a beautiful ambient experience and chillout for the user, as well as a Skirmish mode and Dark Matter mode. The songs are created by Milieu and levels are generated differently each time. You can get this gem of a game from here.
Who knows what games 2013 will bring? Crazy titles, relaxed titles, shooters, RPGs and many goodies. Ports and remakes, special releases and titles that take 3 GB of space this time. All of that and more will be published here, on Androidpipe.com, so keep reading!
