  • There is no doubt that what Google has done in terms of task switching starting with Android 4.0 ICS has revolutionized the way we use our smartphones today. Though it has been long since then, other manufacturers have tryed improving upon what Google has done, without necessarily failing but never managing to stand out. Switchr is insted the kind of app that does stand out in a very good way.

In terms of compatibility, Switchr by developer Mohammad Adib should work on any Android 4.0+ device, including tablets. Its main goal is to further improve the speed but also the feel of task switching. The first thing you are likely to notice upon starting the app for the first time is how well designed the interface is and the great tutorial that is part of the first time you access the app to take you through the basics. Switchr offers many features and setting though a majority are only available once you decide to purchase the Pro Key.

There are three mode of task switching you can use: Flow, Slide and Arc. On turn, each style comes with its own settings for transparency, speed and other related options. There are also the general settings for the hot zone size, placement, sensitivity, edge and even a clack list for the apps you don’t want to appear in Switchr. Animations, vibration duration and the use of GPU hardware acceleration are also useful options available within the app. Upon testing it for a good amount of time and going through most of the settings I found it to be very well polished and worth recommending to anyone that is either tired of the old style or wants something faster and more customizable.

Switchr is available in free form, lacking a great deal of options, to use until you decide to purchase the Pro Key for about $2 – which unlocks all the features. It is one of the apps worth having.
