  • A while ago we discussed the “what’s this song” feature that was made available by Google as a Shazam alternative. And now we get a special widget to help you keep tabs on your music finding endeavour and also keep a list of all the songs you’ve listened to.

Sound Seach for Google Play is a brand new widget, that can be downloaded from here, so you can start to find out what song was playing when you kissed her/him. That will happen straight from the Android device homescreen, so you’ll skip the pesky opening of Shazam and trying to find the server to answer your querry. The Sound Search widget will sync across all your devices, so the song recognized on your handset in the pub will be up for purchase on your tablet when you arrive home.

Devices with Android 4.2 will support adding the widget to the lockscreen of the device, so you can recognize songs immediately after pulling the handset out of the pocket, without even having to unlock it. Sound Search for Google Play widget requires Android 4.0 and above and after you install it, you should go to widget picker and drag the new Sound Search onto the homescreen.
