  • Created by SJTeague, the SLR Android application is now 67% cheaper, priced at a mere dollar. What it does is allow the user to plan in 3D the favourite lighting setup for taking the perfect picture in a specialized studio. The full name of the app is Studio Light Rigger, that also allows you to save your light setups to a library on the device or upload them to a misort.com account.

The app takes up 1MB of space and allows you to move objects in 3D plan and perspective views. There’s also a real time camera lens view with real time shadows, but that feature requires GLES2. There are Female and Male setups with multiple poses available. One can also store his/her lighting rigs using the Built in library from the app. There were Adreno 220 GPU bugs and ASUS Transformer problems, but they were fixed in the latest release of the application, so don’t worry.

There are new features in the camera dialogue and the app also gives you better handling of the rotate and Target buttons. For example if move target is on and rotate is selected then move the target will deselect. If you want to move the target in your shot, that one only responds to dragging, so accidental movements won’t happen. The app can be downloaded from here.
