  • Last year I played with the Sony Xperia S in Spring and had fun with the game Samurai Versus Zombies Defense and this year I’m playing the sequel game on the sequel phone, the Xperia Z. The game comes from Glu Mobile and it’s a freemium title, so although it’s free, you may have to pay for upgrades.

The title takes up 115 MB of space and has you playing as a samurai, ronin or Kunoichi. The Samurai is fast, the Ronin has great armor, but it’s slow and Kunoichi is deadly, but has weak armor. The concept of game is this: you get a main character to start with and then conjure various units such as warriors, spearmen, bowmen, wizards, witches and wise men, all with special powers. The main character also has a special power, like slowing down time or throwing enemies away with a wave of energy.

You get lots of units to conjure and upgrades for all of them, including the main characters. Upgrades are done using the money you get after battles and the game has 3 currencies: Glu coins, that are hard to find and need you to pay for them, game money and souls. The latter are required to access a multiplayer battle or two. The graphics are colourful and detailed and the whole Japan vibe transpires from the game, which is a pretty cool thing. The music also has Asian influences and attacks look great and are highly detailed.

The game gets a 9.8 out of 10 from us and you can get it here.
