Royal Revolt 2 Review (HTC One M8): Big Improvement from the Predecessor, a Pinch of Clash of Clans in the Mix (Video)
Royal Revolt 2 was actually reviewed by me only weeks after I reviewed Royal Revolt 1. I played the newer title on the HTC One M8 and had a lot of fun with it. The first title was cute, by the second one is much more complex and also adds some familiar elements in the mix. I’m talking about those that make it feel a lot of Clash of Clans.
This also means that the game is a bit of a cash cow now and everything has to happen online. The title stays free and it involves upgrading your castle and building traps, spikes, barriers and towers in the way of the siegers. The core of the game remains the siege you perform against your foes, where you control a prince and his army, much like you did in the latest Thor game.
The online play happens against real life players, that are chosen at random, or at least that’s my impression. The 3D graphics look pretty niche and touch control is the essence here. Heroes can be upgraded and can learn new spells, while new units can also be unlocked as you progress. The upgrades are kind of slow and take many hours to perform. You also need gems for everything, which is another reminder of Clash of Clans. There are cups and competitions to take part in here and you will get robbed of your gold when you’re away from your device, by players who are sieging you.
You can also purchase a shield to prevent that from happening, but that’s too expensive. The game limits you a lot, especially with the high price of builders and such and everything becomes too expensive fast. You need food to attack and food is the second big resource of the game, gained via farms. This is a fun game to play, graphics are great, but the cash cow thing is bothersome.
8.3 out of 10 for Royal Revolt 2 and you can download it here.
