Riptide GP2 Nokia X Demo: Surprising is the Word! (Video)
The Nokia X is an interesting phone, priced at just $120 and it runs a different flavour of Android than what we’re used to. There’s no Google Play Store this time, so we actually had to get Riptide GP2 from the 1 Mobile Market store. The purpose of this demo is to showcase the gaming abilities of the Nokia X.
This phone has 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of storage and a dual core Snapdragon S4 Play CPU. Still, it manages to run the game on a 4 inch screen at 480 x 800 pixels with a decent frame rate. The graphics include boost blur, water reflection and water mesh effects. There are no little drops of water on the screen each time you do a crazy stunt, but we can live with that, as long as gameplay is fluid.
The scene complexity is set on medium and the shader on low. The audio is good, the menus are fluid and there’s absolutely no lag in the game. There’s good lightning and no overheating, so overall I’d say the Nokia X does a fine job at running the game.
