  • Riptide was one of the major benchmark games on Android and actually one of the first to really test the Tegra platform. Now, we’re getting Riptide GP 2 next week, that will probably serve as an excellent benchmark for Tegra 4 or even Snapdragon 800.

The game comes to Android on July 23rd from Vector Unit and we’re expecting kickass lighting and water splashing effects. The gameplay stays the same: hardcore racing with waterjets and a feeling you’re playing a less futuristic Repulze or Wipeout. Riptide GP 2 will not be exclusive to Tegra devices, although the Tegra units will get it first and benefit from extra visuals.

As far as specs go, you will need a minimum of Android 2.3, a 1 GHz single core CPU and 512 MB of RAM, so the game can actually run on a ton of devices. Advanced graphics settings will make the difference on higher end slates. The price tag will be $2.99 and the game will even have true multiplayer.
