  • Most of us prefer all-in-one apps that provide all the widgets configurations we need for making our smartphone look beautiful and functional. While there are many great alternatives on the Play Store and, between you and me, I’ve bought and tested all of them, I found Recast to be the one I intend to keep.

Recast Weather and Widgets - Unbelievable design and attractiveness

Recast Weather and Widgets is a highly customizable widget set that will make your smartphone not only look good but give it a unique feel. Recast was built using the platform SDK’s from (almost) all version of Android, 2.2 and up. It looks very good no matter where you use it: on your smartphone, tablet or Google TV. It’s also compatible with the latest Android version: Jelly Bean. The UI is the first thing you notice when opening the app. It’s simply superb and if certain elements are not to your convenience you can change all of them. In the settings menu you can customize your weather locations, general settings (update frequency, location services, temperature units) and widget templates. The UI is made of tabs that you can swipe through with ease. Once you decided you want to add a widget, select your dimension from a wide variety: 1×1 to full screen landscape or portrait and then start customizing. You are presented with a screen for widget options. First select what the widget should show. Depending on the size you can have the time, weather, utilities or combinations of the three. Next you choose appearance related options. Typeface, font, color set, weather icon set and a lot more, all at your fingertips. More so, through the Templates tab or when adding a widget you can download more color sets, fonts, typefaces with a lot more soon to be available in the online store.

The development of Recast doesn’t stop here. There are still many great thing to come with future updates. A message from the developer to our readers:

I’d like to say that we’re always taking feedback from customers on what people like, what they would change and what should come next in our apps. If people have a specific request they should let us know. We’re reachable by email, on Facebook, Google+, Twitter and of course here on XDA.

You can get the free Beta version of Recast, with a limited number of options available from here. Once you decide, the full version is available on the Play Store.
