  • Rayman Adventures is the third big Rayman title exclusively made for mobile by Ubisoft and available for free in the Play Store. We played it on the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and had fun, although the new control system was kind of finnicky.

Launched in December last year, the game is actually a freemium, because there are timers that you may want to skip by spending gems or cash. Those timers are associated to hatching eggs, that will reveal Incrediballs, some cute critters that work as sidekicks. They accompany Rayman during his platforming actions and protect him from damage or discover Lums for example.

There’s a variety of these creatures and they live in a tall tree, that feels like the one in the Jack and the Beanstalk tale. You can play as Ray or a Viking girl, both with cool unlockable costumes, including ones related to Splinter Cell or Far Cry for example. You get gems after performing well in a level and also earn food, which is necessary for the Incrediballs, which have to be fed to be used.

The other minigame involves making the little guys sing, more or less in tune. Graphics are cute, although I don’t quite feel a progress from Rayman Jungle Run and Fiesta Run. Levels are divided into time trials, discovery levels, where the lums are hidden behind various elements, classic platforming levels and ones that have you fighting those classic old men/skeleton creepy fellows.

I didn’t feel that I needed the IAPs, so that’s a good aspect. The soundtrack was also pretty bland and levels felt long and complex, compared to past Rayman releases. The game remains funny and fun and the Incrediballs are very likable and useful. We give it a 9 out of 10 and you can get it here.
