  • The good old RAR app from RARLAB has arrived on Android, after many years of being available on the PC. The best news here is that the app is available for free. This software can create RAR and ZIP files and unpack a variety of archives.

Supported files include RAR, ZIP, Tar, GZ, BZ2, XZ, 7z, ISO and ARJ. You can also repair damaged archives and there’s a benchmark function compatible with RARLAB’s WinRar benchmark. Then there’s recovery record, usual and recovery volumes, encryption, solid archives and the app is able to use multiple CPU cores to compress data.

From what I know you can also unpack archives with ES File Explorer, at least I did and I know you’re going to be needing that for subtitles for a variety of movies. In the meantime you can go get the official RAR for Android app from here.
