  • PayPal has just updated the official Android app for this service, reaching version 4.0.0.1. This one requires Android 2.2 or later and takes up 5.3 MB of storage. The app is available for free and allows you to view your total, available and pending PayPal balances.

The software supports the ability to take a picture of the credit or debit card and add it to your account. You can also find local merchants who are using the new PayPal Here service. There’s also enhanced support for Ice Cream Sandwich and the usual amount of bug fixes. From what I can see in the Google Play Store, merchants who take payments on the smartphone and download the PayPal here app will get a free card reader.

Aside from all these aspects, the new app brings a redesign of the interface and navigation, that involves offering the features that matter the most in a more appealing view. These are account management, money sending and requesting money. Landscape support is also coming soon. The main options of the app (account, sending and receiving) are displayed in tabs along the top of the app. The app is up for download here.
