Pacific Rim Review: Plagued by Bugs, but Almost Fun (Video)
It’s a pity that great movies like Pacific Rim have their fame spoiled by less impressive games. The title Pacific Rim is available in the Play Store and it’s priced at $4.99. We’re dealing with a title that resembles the likes of Infinity Blade and Blood & Glory gameplay-wise.
The deal is simple: you play as a jaeger robot meant to destroy the evil kaiju. You dodge and parry by swiping on the screen, you will try to use a shield and also swipe to hit the enemy when the time is right. We tested the game on the Oppo Find 5 phone and sometime during mission 5 the game reset itself to the homescreen of the phone.
There are 30 levels in the story mode and a survival mode is also available. We’ve got 5 jaegers included here, including big names like Crimson Typhoon, that for some reason doesn’t have 3 arms. There’s also Gypsy Danger, Cherno Alpha and Striker Eureka. You can upgrade their weapons, unlock new abilities and other fun stuff.
If it weren’t for the repetitive gameplay and bugs, this title would be appealing. However, the fact that some of the content doesn’t fit with the movie and the bugs take its grade to 6 out of 10. You can download the game from here.
