OUYA Pre-orders Start Shipping With Retail Stores Availability to Follow

  • The Android powered gaming device is not just a one-of-a-kind system but also one providing all the features one could ever dream of in terms of gaming and much more. It is a device that has held the top headlines for a good while, looking like it is ready for more.


    It was announced since a while back that the first shipments for the OUYA gaming console are likely to go at the end of March and today is the day a large number of happy customers get their rewards for having pre-ordered the device. With the launch event held today there were also other very interesting announcements, regarding the number of titles available for the console and availability in stores.

    OUYA will be headed for the retail stores starting June 4th. From the officials at the event phandroid managed to catch that the console actually started shipping since yesterday. And that is not all. Here are some other interesting facts unveiled at the launch party:

    • 104 titles will be immediately available
    • OUYA will require an update on first launch but it will be ultra quick
    • You’ll need a credit/debit card to download games… even free ones
    • OUYA supports up to 4 controllers and although you can buy more, it’ll work with Xbox/PS3 controllers among others
