  • OUYA developer console units are reaching their early adopts, mostly developers, who have an early hands on with the devices. Now the first impressions and hands on videos have appeared, as shown below. Game partners CodeZombieGames took people through the unboxing, setup and detailed the usability of the OUYA box.

Video playback is also included, as well as Internet browsing and even playing some games. Ouya is an Android device, but there’s also a special skin UI applied more suited for TV use. Some aspects of the usage and interface are a work in progress and may change in the future. For now the UI is very clean and there’s a bit of a Metro feeling to the entire interface. The onscreen keyboard is easy to access and input is easy to do using said keyboard. External peripherals are also supported and on the downside we see that the games played here are meant for a portrait orientation.

Regular backers of the OUYA Kickstarter will get their preordered consoles in March 2013, while devs have already received them. The joysticks are pretty standard with two handles that make them easier to hold, two analog sticks, 34 actions buttons and a D Pad. Everything is covered in transparent plastic and the joysticks also have some shoulder buttons. The gamepads remind me more of the Xbox 360 controllers than the PS3 ones. See for yourselves in the clips included in this article.

So, are you convinced about buying the device or not?
