  • OUYA  is an upcoming game console, based on the open source software technology of Android. Julie Uhrman  set up the project and broght it to life. She brought in the designer Yves Béhar to help  work on the design of the project, and Stuffy Ghadiali as product manager, to put together the engineering team for the hardware. The console is set to be released in March 2013 and has gathered a very large amount of supporter.

Given OUYA’s unexpected popularity growth over a relatively short period of time, it has caught the attention of some eager developers to release games especially designed for the console. With the Kickstarter campaign behind it, the console will launch with an impressive number of titles available for it.

For developers anxious to test their releases for the console, OUYA dev device will be available starting December 28th.  It is also the date when the OUYA SDK will be released, though worthless until the device is actually released. There is also an image of the prototype made available by the console team, as shown above. Unless you are one of the developers to order a device, expect it to be available next year in March.
