  • The Ouya Android gaming console can pride itself with being part of the most successful and popular Kickstarter campaigns till now and the console is approaching release. It’s time for marketing to kick into gear, with Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman handling that nicely so far. She’s now saying that the Ouya will be the best Tegra 3 device on the market.

One of the main advantages of the device is that it doesn’t run on a battery, so there’s no worry about the power consumption. Nvidia is also very happy with the product, describing their work with the Ouya team as “amazing”. The product goes for $99 and apparently Nvidia worked with the team at Ouya to maximize the potential of the CPU, as it works on a console, not a mobile. Last I heard, Ouya promised annual upgrades of the device, with a new version every year.

This means that in 2014 we can expect a Tegra 4 console as the successor of the current Ouya. We may also get more storage, more RAM and maybe even support for high resolution screens. After all Sony are churning out 4k TVs, so why not do some gaming in that resolution and kill some PS3s or even PS4s?
