  • OUYA finished its Kickstarter funding campaign yesterday and surpassed the initial $950k goal, reaching almost ten times that: $8.6 million. There’s an official website at ouya.tv, where you can preorder the Android console now for $109, including shipping. Previously the Kickstarter funding required the users to pay $99 for the miniature console, but this is a separate preorder.

OUYA is sure that the Kickstarter consoles will ship to the backers during March 2013, while the preorders on the site will arrive about a month later, in April 2013. Don’t worry, as both the Kickstarter backers and standard preorders get the same package: one console and one controller. Buyers get the same games and content library as those who got the console early. Among their launch titles we find Final Fantasy III, with Square Enix promising a port for the console already.

Indie developers are very interested in this initiative, so expect a ton of games to be announced next spring. On the media side we have a partnership with the XBMC team, that will get the video service on the console. Plex will also be supported in the future, as an alternative media center. So, are you buying the OUYA?
