  • Opera Mini for Android has just been updated to version 7.5, the first major update since the debut of the browser this spring. The browser comes this time with a feature called Smart Page, that offers an overview of what’s happening in the online media, including separate tabs for social networking.

Via Smart Page you can see what your friends are doing, the news and even some suggested links. Opera Mini has the already famous advantage of hugely compressing the web pages, so it’s much faster than its rivals. Opera has been using such technologies for a long time, so they’ve become a sort of standard in the matter. Other features include Link, that syncs your history, bookmarks and notes from the desktop Opera experience. Back to Smart Page, this one is shown as sort of dashboard, a view of the latest activity you’ve had on social networks, plus automatic news feeds.

The browser is available for free, takes up less than 1 MB and works on Android 1.5 and later devices. The social networking part of the browser integrates Twitter, Facebook and vKontakte, a Russian social network, if I’m not mistaking. You can get the new Opera Mini from here.
