  • There are some pretty good apps for remote controlling our PC, using our Android smartphone or tablet, on the Play Store. One of the most renowned is Splashtop Remote Desktop. In some ways this app is better then the all popular TeamViewer.

Splashtop Remote Desktop is available in HD versions for tablets and THD for NVidia Tegra chipsets. For smartphones the regular version is available. To get working first download the necessary PC software from here. Once installed, set a password that you enter in the app for yor smartphone. With Splashtop you get the full PC experience. Unlike TeamViewer, this app does not compromise the desktop viewing quality. The image is displayed just like on your computer. Then we have the audio, which is now played on the smartphone at very high quality.

Video qualit, played on the PC and viewed on the smartphone, is also very good. You can use gestures like pinch to zoom and there are keyboard combinations with special keys on the top of the screen. For a more enjoyable experience we can hide all the controls. The mouse is controlled with the help screen but, unlike TeamViewer, where the cursor follows the finger, with Splashtop it is positioned only where we touch. A virtual mouse wheel for scrolling is also available. Given the much higher image quality, use of 3G data and performance using this type of connection is reduced.

Splashtop Remote Desktop is now offered 50% off of the regular price for all versions. Get it from the Play Store.
