  • The two Android apps from Sling Media SlingPlayer for Tablets and SlingPlayer for phones are part of a huge sale now, with 50% off their regular prices. Both of them are available for $14.99 and allow you to turn your Android tablet or phone into a TV. The app takes up 14 MB of storage and it was last updated early this month.

SlingPlayer serves as a companion to your Android tablet and the software makes it easy to watch the home TV via 3G/4G/WiFi, using your tablet or phone to change channels, control the DVR and watch shows on the device itself. SlingPlayer offers the latest TV shows in high resolutions and remote control features, that are very intuitive. The SlingPlayer app is available for download worldwide, but the SlingBox hardware is required to actually benefit from its features.

There’s a demo on the Motorola Xoom tablet, showing how you can watch your own TV from anywhere in the world. There’s no buffering, there’s zoom in features, full screen view, aspect ratio changing and on the screen you can see an exact remote control replica of the real device. Changing channel and various tweaks are available. DVR listing is available and all channels from home are available here. The SlingPlayer for tablets is available here and the one for phones here.
