  • The Sinister Planet Android game is now on sale, so it’s priced at 99 cents, down from the usual $2.10. The title is made by Neolithic Software, it requires Android 2.1 and up and takes up merely 8.4MB of space. The short description for this original game is this: Asteroids meets Sinistar.

Since the game is demoed in the video below on the Xperia Play handset, one can only suppose that the title is adapted to that handset. Sinister Planet has trippy/creepy sound  effects and it’s an Asteroids version to me, with upgraded graphics, fast paced gameplay and pretty high difficulty. The background is more detailed and enemies are quite varied for such a casual game. You get ship upgrades, more and more frantic gameplay as time passes and beautifully rendered asteroids.

Other features included here are Zeemote support, 25 waves of aliens, multitouch 360 degree shooting and loads of powerups. 60 fps gameplay is available, as well as a global high score system, so you can compare your progress to the one of other people. There are bonus challenge waves included, as well as awards and achievements. You can download the game from here.
