On Sale: Audubon Birds – A Field Guide; Bird Watchers Unite!

  • If you’re looking for an app that gathers all the famous bird species all over the world, then you should check out Audubon Birds – a Field Guide, especially now that it gets a price reduction. The application is $2 cheaper than usual, being priced at 99 cents. It’s made by NatureShare and the price reduction is offered on the occasion of celebrating the 3rd app anniversary.

    The 99 cent piece of software was last updated in June and it requires Android 2.1 and up. It takes up 21 MB of space and it offers info about over 650 birds, with more to be added in the future. 49 new species are included, including 18 free flying parrots and parakeets. There’s also the eBird technology on board, allowing the user to locate birds in real time and access recent sightings, locations of famous and rare birds, plus maps and directions to all the birding hotspots in North America.

    Thousands of high definition images are available for each species, with great clarity. Multiple image of each species are included, showing the birds in their natural habitat and classifying them by gender, age and seasonal plumage variations. There’s also a Journal feature, that allows you to track and take notes of your personal sightings. You can download the app from here.
