  • Sony has announced the date when it will make available their PlayStation Mobile software for Android and Vita. They are also planing on  introducing a smaller, slimmer and lighter version of its PlayStation 3 home console ahead of the year-end holidays as it gears up for growing competition in games from smartphones.

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has announced new developments for its PlayStation range of products and services. Their plans include a smaller and lighter PlayStation 3, PlayStation Plus for the PlayStation Vita, new manufacturing partners for PlayStation Mobile content, plus the availability of this content through the PlayStation Store, all to come in the coming months.

Sony’s PlayStation mobile app is a platform for PlayStation Certified Android phones and tablets on which Sony will sell a curated collection of mobile games via a PlayStation Store app. It will be available worldwide starting October 3rd, with 30 games at launch. Most of Sony’s own phones and tablets will have access to the PlayStation Mobile platform.
