  • Barnes & Noble not only updated its tablet lineup and e-readers, but also its free NOOK reader apps for iOS and Android. The update is available now on the Google Play Store and brings enhanced functionality, apparently with some features that will make comics fans glad.

Barnes & Noble will give Android users the ability to zoom in on a frame when reading a comic/graphic novel, to get more detail out of that frame. The function is called Zoom View and it’s only available on handsets with a HVGA+ display, running Android 2.2 or later. Other new features included in the update are the addition of a full dictionary, improved font and margin sizes and a couple of enhancements for the preordering of content system. And then there’s the generic bug fix and B & N instructs users to sync their library before updating to version 3.2.

If you don’t want to buy a NOOK HD or HD+, at least you can access Barnes & Noble services via this app, that’s up for download on the Play Store right here. In case you’re wondering, iOS users also get the option of viewing PDF files and PagePerfect NOOK Book content.
