  • I’ve always wondered why there’s no solid RTS on Android devices, but the cramped space on the screen may explain that. However, on tablets it could work, so before you start dreaming about Command & Conquer, we’ve got the next best thing: Desert Stormfront. This RTS was recently posted on the Google Play Store by Noble Master Games, the guys behind Age of Conquest.

This game respects the old school RTS tradition and has sprite-based graphics that made nostalgic. The devs didn’t dumb down the complexity for mobile users, but instead they adapted the mouse and keyboard control to the touchscreen experience. The common group units use in RTS games is now adapted to on screen buttons and the screen filling menus are now dynamic. Since this is a RTS is has multiple building units to develop, resources, unit upgrades, resource gathering and more.

Oilfields give you resources and other RTS elements include a “fog of war” element and map exploration. Graphics are similar to the ones of games in the 90s. The music is apparently pretty god in this game, with some epic scores for the title. The only defect of the game is the slow movement of units. You can get the game from here for $4.99, or the lite version from here.
