  • Broken Sword is a hugely popular point and click adventure game from back in the 1990s and now it’s back and available on Android. After the first title recorded a successful debut on Android and iOS in its remastered version, Broken Sword II is taking its turn for a re-release. The full name is Broken Sword II – The Smoking Mirror and this remake was handled by Revolution Software.

The launch of the game has kind of a comical coincidence, since the theme of the game that debuted in 1997 is actually the end of the world predicted by the Mayan calendar. That’s supposed to go down on December 21st 2012 and back in 1997 it seemed like a remote date, but here we are. Broken Sword II is a 2D adventure game, that’s played from a third person view and uses a point and click interface. The protagonist’s name is George Stobbart and there’s also Nicole Collard as a playable character in some portions of the title.

You can collect objects that you can use in puzzles, solve quests and start dialogs with characters via conversation trees. Each clue and hint is important in the title… Since this is a remastered version of the original, the maker of the game felt the need to add some extras, exclusive features like an interactive comic from the Watchmen co-creator Dave Gibbons and fully animated facial expressions. There’s also a full soundtrack available and a hint system that’s context sensitive, plus a diary. Dropbox integration allows you cross platform game save, which is very, very cool.

You can download the game from here for about $4.
