New Facebook Software Includes Status Updates on Your Android Homescreen

  • You’ve probably heard that next week Facebook has a big Android-related event coming, one that people associated with a possible Facebook phone. Well, it’s not that, we can give you that much. It appears it will be a Facebook update.


    It’s a Facebook software update, that will include status updates on your Android homescreen. The social networking giant has been working on new software for mobile devices powered by Android and they want to display content from users’ Facebook accounts on the smartphone’s homescreen. The idea is to show FB stuff as soon as you unlock the device.

    That’s basically what HTC is doing with BlinkFeed, although you can select that as a separate homescreen, not the main one. The custom software is expected to debut first on phones made by HTC, which would explain rumors that FB and HTC are working together, maybe on a special smartphone, too.
