  • Just a couple of days back, Facebook has held an Android related event to announce its newest products that cover both software and hardware. It is a decisive attempt from the number one social network provider to greatly refresh its image in regards to the mobile platform, especially on Android where all previous attempts seem to have failed.

The latest Facebook products for Android aim to be available on mid to high-level Android devices sometime this year. The developer is currently working on several release variant and testing the platform on what we can suspect to be as many devices as possible. The software solution provided by Facebook was leaked even before the official announcement, to reveal a solution that integrates and joins all mobile apps for Android – Facebook related into one interface. The first solid implementation for it will be with the new announced Facebook Phone, aka the HTC First.

What facebook plans on offering with its Home suite is a homescreen replacement for Android, that provides new social interaction features that seem very well designed and functional. The launcher comes with its own interface and uses the Facebook Messenger app as the default for both SMS and private social messages. Though the apk has been leaked before, it is now the first time that courtesy to MoDaCo there are the still very early builds of the apk files that have been found to work on the Nexus 4. These consist of the main Facebook app (‘katana’), the now-integrated-with-your-SMS Messenger app (orca) and the Home / Launcher ‘shell’ app (home).
