  • CPU-Z is a very interesting application for Android, that was actually PC software originally. It’s a free app that reports information about your device, a very useful feature when you’ve just bought a handset or tablet from China and you don’t know the specs.

It has happened to me before to see an East European tablet with local branding and the promise of a Cortex A9 CPU and instead we had a Cortex A5 inside, according to 3DMark. Now, using CPU-Z you can get the SoC name, architecture, clock speed for each core and other such details. You’ll also get system information, like the device brand and model, screen resolution, RAM and storage.

Finally, there’s data about the sensors and battery information (level, status and temperature). The app requires Android 3.0 and above, it’s available for free and takes up less than 200 Kb of storage. As usual bug reporting is welcome and you can download the app from here.
