  • If you like flying a plane and shooting it WW II style, then you probably want a simulator. If you want a more arcade experience we recommend MiniSquadron!, a side scrolling aerial fighting game made by Gray Fin Studios and available now for $2.99 on Google Play Store. The game was updated in July and requires Android 2.1 and up.

It fits in the arcade category, so expect modest graphics here, but lots of entertainment. The title takes up 24 MB of storage and offers intuitive touch controls, over 50 planes to unlock, 8 levels of intense combat and even multiplayer. The latter goes on via local WiFi, which is very cool. MiniSquadron is described by its maker as a “frantic arcade shooter”, that even goes as far as offering support for Zeemote Bluetooth controllers. The game has good graphics and art design, as shown by the video below.

You can do all the looping you want and shoot your foes mid-air, while keeping an eye on your hearts, that show your life. The enemies come in waves and you have to calculate your loops and various movements to destroy them. Planes can stall, or they can dodge fire, so be very careful. Low altitude is also a problem. You can download the game from here.
