  • Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.6.0 has only been out as a major update for a bit and there’s also a 0.6.1 bug fix available and people are already talking about a 0.7.0 release. The changes will be massive and they will include true multiplayer, whatever that means.

Originally, it will happen via WiFi, but 3G/4G support will eventually come. Player hosted servers will also be available with the new multiplayer feature and the cool thing is that the multiplayer will run like the PC version of Minecraft. 0.7.0 brings a new UI in its changelog, with a change in design more than functionality. There will be experimental options added to the settings in 0.7.0, like those related to “smooth shading” and “smooth lighting”.

The other big feature that’s being worked on is Caves, that will come in multiplayer surely, while offline play may have to wait a bit more for that. I can already envision people tripping on stuff on the street because they’re playing multiplayer Minecraft on their phones.
