  • It appears that Microsoft is preparing to launch a remote desktop software for iOS and Android, plus Windows, Windows RT and OS X. It’s interesting that the info about the release for rival platforms was slipped inside a press release about another product.

Back in the day one would never even imagine that Microsoft would launch a remote desktop solution for the iPhone and iPad, or Android for that matter. Mobile is certainly increasing and handsets and tablets are selling a lot more than desktops. That’s why people are taking their work on the go, but they still want to access the home PC, preferably via an official solution with solid security and encryption.

Of course we’ve got SplashTop and Team Viewer, with a bundle of loved features and a solid user base, but I’m sure that Microsoft can deliver a solid rival. Microsoft is all about the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy via desktop virtualization. Expect support from Gingerbread upwards for this new application.
