Massive Augmented Reality Smartphone Game Revealed by Google

  • I am sure most of you are aware of the project called Google Glass. It features an implementation of on-screen technology into a pair of glasses that will let you socially interact in a way never though possible a few years back. The glasses also incorporate cameras for video chat and surroundings recognition for providing useful info.


    It looks like Google is really into augmented reality as recently they released a game under the developer name NianticLabs@Google. It comes mainly as a presentation of what the technology can achive with the help of just software and a smartphone rear camera. The game goes by the name Ingress and it will have players walking through the city and finding clues,  solving mysteries by tapping locations when they discover magical properties.

    Ingress is a closed beta as of now but you can get your invitation by submitting your request at at The game is being played out globally and you can track the progress of players around the world, plan your next steps, and communicate with others using an Intelligence map.

    Ingress is now available on the Play Store.
