Lockitron Offers New $149 Kit That Allows You To Unlock Your Door With A Phone (Video)

  • Lockitron has been selling solution to use your phone as a bor key in the past. Their previous kit was based on NFC technology and was offered at a not so decent price of $300. Since not a great deal of customers rushed to purchase the key-free lock control solution for Android, iPhone, and Blackberry this time they are trying a different, less expensive approach.


    The previous Lockitron system allowed you to send a simple text message or use your NFC equipped smartphone to quickly and easily unlock your door. Now the manufacturer has come up with a different, less expensive solution that will allow you to use your phone as a key. The solution requires you install an easy box on your door that integrates Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules. Once you’re done you can use the Using the Lockitron app or SMS messages to lock and unlock the door.You even get the option to allow other people to use their smartphones to unlock the entrance. With Bluetooth 4.0 enabled devices, Lockitron can even automatically unlock when you approach the door.

    The solution is not yet ready for release but the manufacturer has released a demo video to show how it works. It will cost $149 and doesn’t ship until March.
