  • I would agree that the number of Android devices running Android 4.2 right now is not so great and there is a reason why most manufacturers have chosen to stay with Android 4.1.2. Still in the case of newer devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S IV or LG Optimus Pro Android 4.2 comes pre-installed.

The latest version of the Android OS is more focused on new and highly requested features than anything else. But from a manufacturer’s point of view, with the custom skins they offer for their devices Android 4.2 may prove itself a nightmare. The widgets in the lockscreen need to be adapted for the custom signature lockscreen every manufacturer uses and notification toggles already come by default with Samsung, LG devices and more. The latter has chosen major improvements with its latest skin for Android.

LG UI Version 3.0 has now been ported to work with different brands Android devices. Unfortunately it is only available for Android 4.2 and up as it is focused on this version only. Courtesy of XDA Developer member Gyebro the custom launcher has been optimized and some unnecessary settings removed for optimum performance. Still it comes with some widgets that might pose problems or fail to load on some devices. The UI is without a doubt worth installing as it is fast and offers a great look. Download it from here or visit the XDA Thread for opinions and more info into it. It requires a rooted device and that you push it to System/App and set permissions – RW/R/R.
