  • We all have our favorite custom ROMs for Android that give us the ability to customize the interface to our liking and a number of extra features. Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is mostly renowned for their custom android software called MIUI and they even recently introduced smartphones to take advantage of their customized Android version.

With the introduction of Jelly Bean based MIUI ROMs, Xiaomi also introduced a new launcher called MIUI Free Launcher. Their ROMs have mostly been preferred not only because of the ease of use and pleasant interface but also due to the high levels of customisation available through theming. MIUI Free Launcher takes the themes to another level (video below). Most of the interactive themes available for it haven’t been translated in English yet but the community is working on it.

Once you download the .zip package from their website and install it using your custom recovery, you will find the MIUI Team has placed a lot of effort into this version’s development. You will find improvements to the Dialler, Contacts, Messaging, Gallery, Music, Notifications and they also have added some apps of their own. MIUI’s promise for ““featuring a rich user experience and user customizable themes” is about right.
