  • Weeks before the official announcement it was leaked that a RED variant for Nexus 5 is no its way. We even got a look at a warehouse full of ready to ship boxed handsets and other images. Now the official announcement has finally arrived and this new bright color variant is available on Google Play. And not a moment too late I might add.

If some of you were expecting other changes than the color of the case then don’t. The device is the same hardware wise as the one announced last year. It’s made by LG and offers a very fast Snapdragon 800 chip with 2 GB of RAM inside. Recently updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat the device is the perfect choice for those that want to be on the bleeding edge in terms of software but also for the developers. None the less the 1080p screen also makes it an appealing multimedia device.

Why RED you might ask. Well because it’s a bit different than what we’re used to. It’s also bright and immediately stands out in the heands of anyone. Not to mention the grade of appeal this version now brings to the feminine side of the users. The device is expected to hit the stores all over the world very soon. For now it’s available on the Play Store for the price of $349 (16GB) and $399 (32GB).
