  • Apps that take advantage of Jelly Bean’s new features have started making their way on to the Play Store to take advantage of the new features introduced with the new version of the OS. One very good example is Notif, a real demo of how to take full advantage of the Android  4.1 expandable notifications.

A while back we talked about Sudo QuickLaunch, an app that came as a very pleasant surprise to replace the Google Now shortcut when swiping up on the home button or the lockscreen, with a customizable list of apps. The app left little to be desired and the features it missed Swipe Launcher offers. Like Sudo, Swipe Launcher replaces the Google Now shortcut with a list of favorite apps that you can choose through the app interface.

On top of the basic feature that Sudo offers, with Swipe Launcher you are able to customize the background transparency. You can also customize the color of the text that is displayed when launching the app. Swipe Launcher let you assign just one app that is launched immediately when it’s activated, without having to go through the list. Another very important aspect of this app is that the list appears faster then Sudo’s, without that moment of hesitation that may be annoying.

Swipe Launcher can be downloaded and tested for free from the Play Store. The free version allows you to add just two apps but you are able to upgrade to the full version through in-app purchases.
