HTC Zoe Launching This Week as Standalone App for Android Devices With Social Features
HTC Zoe was available on the HTC One M8 at launch, as a standalone app, but it wasn’t activated back then. It promised social features among others and it appears that the software is ready for prime time and it will be released this week.
The app will also work on non HTC Android devices, by the way. It will be up for download in the Play Store and you’ll be able to start sharing and tweaking your content on LG, Samsung, Sony and more devices. Drew Bamford, head of HTC’s Creative Labs division has confirmed this release and I guess we’re only hours or days away from the launch. The Zoe feature came with HTC One M7 last year, allowing users to auto create videos out of their photos and vids stored in the camera roll.
The app had special soundtrack options, nifty transitions and effects to apply. Then the app evolved on HTC One M8 and now it’s ready for this release. HTC hopes to engage a community of Zoe users, just like Instagram and Vine did. The purpose here is to create a hub for viewing other people’s Zoes and also sharing your own. BlinkFeed will be going the same way soon, coming to all Android devices.
