  • Google has been working on a cross platform Chrome Remote Desktop extension for a while now, a solution allowing users to access desktops remotely via the Chrome browser. Now that solution comes as an Android app, but only in beta phase for now.

You can see in this article the screenshots of the app, but this is an invite only beta, so you can’t quite play with it yet. The app is being developed for handsets and tablets, allowing their users to access the PC from mobile devices via Chrome Remote Desktop installed from the Chrome web store. There’s also an iOS version of the Chromoting app that’s expected to be released after the Android one.

With solutions like Team Viewer out there and many other apps and similar solutions, we can’t say we actually needed this app, but since it’s official Google material we have high expectations from it. I wish security is tighter than on other remote apps, since that’s a crucial aspect of remote controlling a PC.
